Documentation

The ISHMP provides the following guides as means of helping users who are new to the Imote2 and associated operating systems and languages get started using the system. It is assumed that the user does not have an extensive background in computer science or the civil engineering theory behind the algorithms. Instead, the assumption is that the user is familiar with basic Windows operation and has a desire for a smart health monitoring system that can be installed easily by most civil engineers.

For Users with Preconfigured Imote2s

The ISHMP Getting Started Guide: Collecting Data with Preconfigured Imote2s is designed for those who have Imote2s that are preconfigured the data acquisition software from the Illinois Structural Health Monitoring Project (ISHMP) Services Toolsuite Version 2.0.1 and have the SHM-A sensor board. The steps in this guide will help you to acquire data with the Imote2 smart sensor platform using the SHM-A sensor board.

For General Users and Developers

These guides are intended for those that will be doing more than the applications provided in the ISHMP Services Toolsuite version preloaded on their Imote2s. Any user who wishes to expand the functionality or customize the software will need to follow the guides in this section. The guides listed under the heading Installation will help the user install and use the necessary software components for performing SHM using Imote2s and the ISMHP Toolsuite. The Getting Started with the Imote2 guide will help the user setup the Imote2 and the PC environment. The Getting Started with the ISHMP Toolsuite will help the user install the ISHMP library and test applications. In a new install, these guides should be followed in that order. The guides listes under the Guides and Tutorials heading will help the user create and program a network of Imote2s that have calibrated SHM-A sensor boards to collect data. The Imote2 for Structural Health Monitoring: User's Guide provides a tutorial on how to use a network of Imote2s installed with the ISHMP toolsuite for SHM. The SHM-A Sensorboard Rev. 4.0 Datasheet and User's Guide provides information on the SHM-A sensor board and its performance statistics. The Calibration Guide for Wireless Sensors will help the user determine the callibration constants for each of their SHM-A and Imote2 pairs. The NSEL report Decentralized Strategies for Monitoring Structures using Wireless Smart Sensor Networks provides a tutorial on how to program using the ISHMP library to create new applications for your Imote2s.
